This is the most accessible aquatic centre I have ever been to. Every pool has a ramp to get in, not just steps. The amenities are clean and just the right amount of shower stalls, family change rooms, even a hairdryer is provided. The cafe was pretty decent, too. The staff are friendly and incredibly helpful. The kids loved the water slides and splash play area. My only complaint is the lack of parking, especially on busy weekends. Edit: Based on the response from Gunyama, I’d like to add that some people with disabilities cannot use public transport or walk long distances, making on‑site parking essential.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

A standout choice for families with children of any age, especially those needing accessibility support. Toddlers and primary-age kids gravitate to the Aqua Play zone; confident swimmers use the 50m lap pool. Weekday mornings offer the most pool access β€” squad training can take over multiple lanes on weekday afternoons.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Bring coins for lockers β€” some paid parking can be reclaimed at the facility barriers
⏰Check the squad training schedule online before an afternoon visit to confirm lane availability
🎟️Weekday mornings and weekend mid-mornings tend to be the least crowded windows
πŸš—The cafe serves fresh sandwiches and good coffee β€” bring a snack if you want a cheaper option

β€œVery nice pool to have fun with your children. Our daughter had a great time playing around in the splash pool. Not so crowded. The lifeguards also keep going around to ensure the safety. We definitely will go back here next time.”

β€œBus from Central station. Parking is paid but some can ben claimed back after the barriers at the pool. Lockers $2. Showers and toilets in the one area (change rooms). Hair dryer in women's changing rooms. 4 pools: Hydrotherapy, 1 for kids with a big bucket overhead that pours every so often, one for swimming laps: slow and fast. Outside pool. Can be taken over by squad training outside pool and inside pool. Cafe food nice but hideously expensive. They have membership packages which include locker cost and ticket packages for roughly $7 each to be used as wanted.”

Overview

Gunyama Park features four distinct pools β€” a 50m outdoor pool set within an irregular beach-style surround, a 25m indoor program pool, a leisure pool, and a 34-degree hydrotherapy pool. The indoor Aqua Play zone adds slides and tipping buckets for younger children. Every pool has ramped entry alongside steps, and the centre provides pool hoists, aqua wheelchairs, and a full Changing Places room.
