1 / 3Hurtsville Aquatic Centre
π Hurstville, NSW
Community aquatic centre in Penshurst with pools, gym, group fitness, learn-to-swim, spa, sauna, steam room, and creche. Recent visitor feedback documents significant hygiene and maintenance problems throughout the facility.
Great gym facilities. Popular classes can be quite crowded(BodyCombat, BodyPump) - more classes would be nice. Lovely staff and instructors. I find the music is too loud for some classes. If you can put a safe decibel limit on the speakers, our hearing wonβt be damaged. A booking facility for the spa, sauna and steam room would be good. Great to see so many elderly people keeping fit. Itβs hard to get a turn on the rowers as they are always occupied. The Spin class is very exclusive - why? Suggestion: More rowing machines More bikes for the Spin class so that more people can enjoy the class. The room is large enough to hold more bikes. The reformer pilates room is under utilised. Perhaps trade in 4 -6 reformer machines for the above?
π Family Action Verdict
The on-paper facility list is comprehensive, and the group fitness program has genuine fans. For families with children, the cleanliness picture documented across recent reviews β cockroaches in toilets, pool debris, dirty change rooms β makes this a difficult recommendation until management addresses the underlying maintenance issues.

βMy wife and I used to use the sauna and spa frequently, but there were too many people without wristbands. We were often unable to find a seat or use the spa. What's more, they spoke a specific language loudly, which was very annoying. Many people found this unpleasant. Lately, my wife has grown tired of coming here and doesn't like it. Staff should check wristbands at least once an hour. This would significantly improve the facility's revenue. Please use the profits to improve the facility.β

βThe cleanliness of the pool has reached a point where itβs no longer useable. Hereβs some of the things I saw last visit: -Dirty nappy in the shower -toilet paper all over the floor -used wristbands thrown everywhere -clothes that had been pooped in left in the change room -bandaids in the pool -sand, dirt, filth in the pool -showers broken -1 toilet broken -steam room not functioning The only things this place has going for it is that the pool is at a good temperature. While I understand the people in the area are filthy and have no self awareness; the onus is on the pool to clean it up if they want to continue charging patrons. The council/pool management need to take some urgent action & fix this place up.β

βI used to be a member and have stopped going. The gym is always full, never enough room in the stretch area and there's always hair and dust on the floor near the windows. Everytime I complain to reception they say they will talk to someone but whenever I go no matter the time or day it's always so dirty. Plus sometimes the equipment for the stretch area is always missing! Straps for equipment is broken or knotted, the wait time for certain equipment is over 30 mins at times because there's only one of everything except for the cable machine... sometimes I wondered where was my membership money going?! I do not recommend this gym.β
