Casual family swimming works well outside lesson and school holiday peak periods. Serious lap swimmers wanting uncontested fast lanes should check the session schedule before arriving.

“An Aussie Gem. An iconic Sydney swimming pool. It even has an old diving tower - not in use. Unfortunately this beauty will be knocked down soon and replaced with hopefully something just as good.”

“Wonderful place with the kids!! The cafe is amazing food, coffee, and such lovely people working there! My kids have been doing swimming lessons over the last ten years and I have sent letters of compliments quite a few times, as they have excellent instructors but they have helped facilitate the best times for our family many many times, for which I’m so thankful! We spend so many hours there without a care for leaving, it is very easy going!”

“Perfect for a hot day unfortunately due to lack of staff, the 'mushroom' pool is always closed, most the pools were used up for classes other than the baby/toddler pool. For $20 a family there isn't really anywhere to splash and have fun”

Overview
Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre operates lap lanes, a dedicated teaching pool, children's splash areas, and a rarely-used heritage diving tower. The swim instruction programme has been running for over a decade and instructors receive specific mention in parent reviews for building genuine confidence in young swimmers. The cafe draws praise beyond the usual snack-bar standard. Pool closures due to staffing — particularly the mushroom pool — are a documented issue.
