1 / 3IMAX Sydney
π Sydney, NSW
Premium IMAX cinema in Darling Harbour with one of the world's largest screens and multiple seating options including full recliners, couples seats, and Coca-Cola Private Boxes. Bar and candy bar on-site. Accessibility facilities available.
I went to IMAX in the city and it was absolutely amazing. The experience is next level: powerful immersive sound, incredible atmosphere, top-quality image, and impressive infrastructure. Everything feels modern, well designed, and premium. Prices are very good for the level of experience you get β definitely worth it. One friendly suggestion: the standard seats in the general area could be a bit more reclined. An extra 30 degrees would make long sessions even more comfortable. Highly recommended. This place truly elevates the cinema experience.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with older kids and teens who can appreciate large-format cinema and handle very loud surround sound. The private box and couples seating options suit parents who want a more relaxed watch. Families with younger children or those sensitive to high volume should weigh the audio levels carefully before booking.

βMy first time visiting IMAX Sydney since reopening a few years back. The venue still feels new and better. It has manned counters and self serve machines. Plenty vending machines which not just for drink but also popcorn and ice cream. I feel like the screen is smaller than the old IMAX. I love the seat tho, so much better. Now the pricing are diverse depending where you sit on and what type of sit. Itβs not cheap for the ticket. Standard seat sets you to $42. The cheapest seat would be at the front seat.β

βFirst time visiting Imax Sydney in a very long time and it did not disappoint! The seats were comfortable, screen huge obviously and the sound was magic! The popcorn tasted great. The bar looked really nice for a pre movie drink. Highly recommend πβ

βI recently visited IMAX Sydney. The environment was clean and well-managed, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, there were some downsides. The snack options were very limited, the volume was uncomfortably high, and the seating was not comfortable for a long movie. While the screen is impressive, overall I would not recommend IMAX Sydney due to the lack of comfort and value for the price.β

Overview
IMAX Sydney in Darling Harbour reopened with upgraded seating across multiple categories. The screen scale and immersive sound system are the primary draw. Volume levels run high β reviewers with sound sensitivity should factor this in. Snack variety is more sparse than a standard multiplex. Mobile phone use policy is strictly enforced during screenings. Half-price member sessions available on select days.
