1 / 3Playground at Darling Quarter
📍 Sydney, NSW
One of Sydney top public playgrounds, featuring a large flying fox, free water park, mini rock-climbing walls, giant slides, and swings — steps from Darling Harbour ferries, light rail, and multiple cafes.
So much fun with the children with food etc a few metres away. I’ve not included too many photos as there are lots of children in the pics. There is a really nice water park that is free. Zip lining for kids too. Explore properly as you might miss the extension of the water park beyond the zip lining area. Don’t forget to bring a change of clothes for your kids. Toilets etc are close by.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 2–12 combining a city visit with serious play time. The water park alone justifies the trip — bring a full change of clothes and explore past the flying fox to find its full extent. The central location makes it easy to add on Darling Harbour, the IMAX, or a cafe lunch without extra travel.

“An outstanding playground in the heart of Sydney. Playground at Darling Quarter is easily one of the best public play spaces we’ve visited. The scale and design are impressive, with a fantastic mix of climbing structures, giant slides, swings, flying fox, and an excellent water play area. It caters well to a broad age range and keeps children engaged for hours. The layout is thoughtful, with good visibility for parents, shaded seating, and amenities close by. Despite being in the middle of the CBD, it feels safe, vibrant, and well maintained. Its location near cafés and restaurants makes it easy to turn into a full family outing. For a free public facility, the quality is exceptional. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Sydney with children.”

“Location: Conveniently situated etween Convention Centre light rail, Darling Harbour ferries, Town Hall trains and Barangaroo Metro Attractions: Large Flying Fox, Water Games, mini-Rock Climbing, swings and slides. Close to several food options also. Interest: The large play area and great variety of options makes it a hit amongst preschoolers and primary school children.”

“This place is incredible! There are multiple play areas with varying levels of difficulty. They even have a carousel (check schedule for operating hours) and water features. The playground is right across from the IMAX theater and surrounded by cafes and shops. There are plenty of picnic tables and benches to sit and relax. There is a water station and washrooms.”
