1 / 3Melton Waves Leisure Centre
π Melton, VIC
Multi-pool leisure centre with indoor wave pool, 50m outdoor pool, 25m indoor pool, toddler pool, warm water pool, spa, gym, and group fitness. Wave pool and rapids section are frequently not operating.
Decided to go to melton waves today and what a choice I made! I was met with a clean, maintained area and the pool was fantastic with it being clean and just the right temperature. But what really made my experience worth it was the cafe team member who I remember to be named "Hasali" she was patient as I looked at the menu to decide what I wanted and treated me with such respect + she made such good coffee. Great experience and will definitely be returning! :)
π Family Action Verdict
Best for local families who use it regularly for swimming lessons or lap swimming rather than families making a special trip for the wave pool. The core lap and toddler pools are clean and functional on most visits.

βI have been a member for 2 months and could not be happier. Great staff in the gym and canteen. I would add, the canteen of late has been really busy due to hot weather and families wanting to cool down in pool. Yet no matter how busy and indecisive the customers, they have remained calm and professional. Keep up the great work πβ

βNot the best pool Iβve ever been to. The wave pool does not seem to run much so I have never had the chance to try it and the same with the river rapids section which seems to a be permanently closed section where dirt, algae, bandaids, and other discarded items accumulate. The pool has lanes for different speeds of swimming or hydro exercises, but nobody seems to enforce it, so you may want to do some exercise, but may struggle to when there is many small children splashing around and getting in the way in the exercise lane. The spa is way too hot and is only ok if you like the sensation of being boiled and cooked! The hot and cold showers that you use before getting into the spa are extremely hot or extremely cold, there is no medium temperature to rinse off in. At least the air temperature is always comfortable so you don't freeze after a shower. The change rooms are a little confusing and could have better signs at the pool side entrance. The showers are not built for big people and you really could not hold your arms out and spin around! You may feel cramped in and bump and bruise your elbows whilst shampooing your hair. The female change rooms only has around 5 showers in it, so whilst there are swarms of children around you could be left waiting around for up to 1hr to use a shower as mothers will wash both their boys and girls in the womenβs change/shower room. The costs to use Melton Waves could be better especially for those struggling on low incomes or paying for fuel to go there from nearby towns. Concession membership seem way out of reach with few other options and direct debit being the most affordable is something that those on low incomes would find very hard to do without incurring extra costs from banks for getting overdrawn at times. Over $80 to go just to the pool daily for a fortnight is a huge chunk to pay out of a pension, especially when paying travel expenses on top, it becomes financially crippling! I believe Melton waves is owned by the council and if the council would like the people of their shire to be fit and healthy then they should make prices more in reach and their pools more inviting. Instead it seems to be made for only those who can afford to get fit.β

βI haven't been to the pool for 10 years and drove an hour to get there so my children could enjoy the same experience I did as a child. I was so let down and so were they. It looks like zero maintenance has been done in the decade, paint chipping and wearing away. The cafe area was full of chips & salt over the counter and mushed chips on the floor to step on bare footed. We were there for 3 hours before the waves went on. And I understand the reason being the lifeguard / guest ratio but there was also no notice of this, there was nothing at reception, no posters around the venue, no Facebook post about it. When I asked the lifeguards when the waves would be on they didn't know. Reception said to ask the lifeguards π€·ββοΈ. It wasn't until multiple people asked that I heard it was because of the amount of people there. If this was communicated straight away then I would have enjoyed my time there instead of telling my children "soon" "soon" every 10 minutes. The outside area was lovey, but inside was a very big let down and honestly, we won't ever go back.β

Overview
Melton Waves runs seven pools: an indoor wave pool, a 50-metre outdoor pool, a 25-metre indoor pool, a warm water pool used for swimming lessons, a toddler pool, a spa, and a river rapids section. A gym with group fitness classes operates alongside. The facility is Melbourne's west's only venue with an indoor wave pool. Reviewers flag that the wave pool operates unpredictably and the river rapids section appears permanently closed β call ahead to confirm what is running before making the trip.
