1 / 3Bedford Playground Park
π Spring Hill, QLD
Compact, fully fenced playground in Spring Hill with rubber surfacing, mature shade trees, and well-maintained grass. Designed for children up to age 5. Pram-friendly throughout. Free entry. Shared tennis courts on site.
This beautiful place, is the main grounds where the Turrbal people lived, and is one of two main places that define Brisbane in a historical context, going way beyond the period of colonisation. Used as a golf course for many years, it still has immaculate moved grass underneath trees dating to way before any white invaders. Whilst half the park has been destroyed to make place for a mayor road (Inner city bypass: 3-4 lanes each direction) as well as a mayor busway (along the Northern edge) it is still the largest green space in inner city Brisbane. Which is terribly important as Brisbane has the least green of all Australian major cities. It needs to be preserved forever.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children under 5 who need a calm, shaded, enclosed space in inner Brisbane. The fencing and rubber surface make independent toddler play low-stress. Older kids will exhaust the equipment quickly. Tennis court access can be disrupted by organised groups on weekends β come early or on weekdays for guaranteed court access.

βThe trees give plenty of shade, which helps on warmer days. Playground equipment is fairly basic but maintained. Gets busier later in the afternoon, especially with families, but still feels relaxed overall.β

βNice small playground. Rubber surface around the whole structure area. Good for children 5 and under not much for older children. Fully fenced in park area if needed.β

βSimple and functional park, nothing overly remarkable but still enjoyable. Playground equipment is safe and suitable for kids, though it could use a few more features for older children. Grass areas are well-kept, making it nice for sitting or having a picnic. My wife liked the calm atmosphere, even when there were a few other visitors around. Parking is manageable but fills up fast on weekends. The paths are fine for a stroll, though not especially scenic. Overall, itβs a practical spot to get outdoors and relax a bit, particularly if youβre not looking for a busy, heavily themed playground experience.β

Overview
Bedford Playground Park sits on Turrbal Country in Spring Hill, on grounds that predate European colonisation and retain immaculate grass under trees dating back centuries. The playground is fully fenced with rubber safety surfacing around the structures, sized for toddlers and children up to 5. Mature trees provide reliable shade across most of the play area.
